Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthan or VYASA is an organization dedicated to the cause of development and popularizing of yoga in the modern society.VYASA got its new name in February 2000. Earlier it was called Vivekananda Kendra Yoga Anusandhana Samsthan(VKYOGAS) from 1986 to 2000. Earlier to that, it was Vivekananda Kendra Chikitsa Tatha Anusandhana Samsthan(VKYOCTAS from 1981 to 1986).
Swami Vivekananda yoga Anusandhana Samsthanos SVYASA is the academic wing of VYASA. The aims of SVYASA is to incorporate yoga in the modern society by following scientific methods of research. Research is conducted mainly in the areas of medical, educational and other applications of yoga. Use of yoga in stress management is also an area of study. Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India has recognized SVYASA as “Scientific and Industrial Research Organization, (SIRO)†and the UGC has granted it the status of being a “Deemed University†  .
The educational system in SVYASA is holistic, based on the consciousness- based approach of yoga systems and spiritual lore. It is not merely a bread-earning educational system but a personality developing and world-building tool through yoga.

Dear Sir,
My mother is 65 yrs old and diabetic from past 10-12 yrs, very weak and unable to do yoga. She is very depressed due to ill effects of diabetes and sometimes feels like committing suicide due to helplessness. All our efforts in motivating her has been a futile exercise. Does your center provide any medical/ counseling assistance to such patients? kindly guide.

I am a engineering graduate. Married about 19 years back. Having 2 children aged 19 and 7 years respectively. My husband is a PHD Scholar. He has developed egoistic attitude from the beginning and due to this attitude he has lost several things in life. Due many failures in his career, he has developed uncivilized behaviors out side the home and inside the home also. Due several occasions of ill-treatment by him, I have also lost control over my mind and due to this position of mind I am unable to judge what is right or what is wrong. I am unable to move with my husband who is mentally ill and I could not learn the right approach to move with such mentally disturbed person. I wanted to learn the techniques or methods of dealing with such person. Hence I wanted to attend the yoga programme. Please advise me suitably in this regard. A friend of my father has suggested to approach your esteemed organization for guidance.

i am 46. I get frequent bouts of headache since the age of 6. I have taken several treatments but nothing seems to work. This ashram is my last hope. Is there a treatment for my problem? Great difficulty from work I will be getting 2 weeks off continuously only first part of December.
