Gita Jayanti 2010

Gita Jayanti is the day on which Lord Krishna taught and gave Knowledge of life and the Supreme.

The words that came out from the holy mouth of lord Krishna is what we called – “Srimad BhagvatGita”.

So Gita Jayanti is the day on which talk between lord Krishna and Arjun (one of the five brothers of Pandava’s) is narrated by Sanjay to king Dhritrashtra.

It was the eleventh day (Ekadashi) of the bright half (Shukla Paksha) of the month of Margaseersha (Dec. – Jan.). So people and devotees celebrate Gita Jayanti on this day with devotion and happiness.

Story Behind Gita Jayanti Festival :

Legends say’s that at the time of Mahabharata war at Kurukshetra, Arjun got confused to fight with his own Relative Bhishma, teacher Guru Drona and other people which was in the army of Kourava’s. Then lord Krishna Gave the Knowledge of life and beyond the life to him. He told each and every thing about the life of a human being. This knowledge made bright way to Arjun that time and now the people across the country adopts Gita in their life. People who adopt Gita in life will never get unhappy and stressed, it is said.

Gita Jayanti is celebrated across the Country and world as well by the followers of Hindu book BhagvatGita. People and devotees worship and pray at the temple specially of lord Krishna.

Play of Krishna and Arjun at Kurukshetra are performed by devotees at Nritya Natika. Bhajan and songs are sung by the devotees at night. Book of BhagvatGita is worshiped like a goddess. Mantras of this holy Book are chanted whole day by devotees on this day.
